WSKF Venezuela is the governing body that promotes the technical level and the principles that rule over the organization, it groups dozens of Dojos and schools in seven states and is supported by a non-profit Foundation that coordinates social programs and sponsors the participation of WSKF competitors in international events. We represent the World Shotokan Karate-Do Federation of Japan, which brings together over 400,000 members in nearly ninety countries worldwide.
WSKF Venezuela develops policies that form the integral karateka, a model citizen, a competitive athlete, and that provide life skills to students and instructors who operate or will operate Dojos, clubs or schools under strict standards, regulations, unified and institutionalized processes, subject to yearly audits. We provide a comprehensive training system that should extend throughout the region to make career professionals out our Instructors.
WSKF Venezuela has trained karatekas for over twenty (20) years. Our Chief Instructor is Sensei Fouad Korban, 6th dan, four-time World Champion, named "Best Instructor of the World" from 2007 to 2009 by his counterparts of the Shihan-kai in Tokyo, and who also serves as President of The WSKF Venezuela Sports Foundation, a non-profit and philanthropic organization.
In 2007, WSKF Venezuela represented the country in the VIII World Championship held in Japan, the birthplace of karate, winning for the venezuelan flag two world championships, in youth and veteran, four sub-championships and a total of 14 (FOURTEEN) medals. In 2009 we won 24 (TWENTY FOUR) medals and ranked second in the medal-count delegation in the XI World WSKF Championship also held in Tokyo.
Today we have the support of numerous organizations, which include The Office of The Mayor of Caracas, The Office of The Mayor of Lechería, The Office of The Mayor of Baruta, Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., Coca - Cola®, Parmalat®, Excelsior Gama, TV Oriente, Samsung®, Avior Airlines and other important firms and institutions of the country which cover most costs and expenses for our competitors, coaches and medical doctors attending international events. We also have the support of media from El Universal and El Nacional, to Meridiano TV, FM Center, Kys FM and the regional press.
