SENSEI Fouad KORBAN



Biography

Born in Lebanon in 1961.

He received his first lessons in basic Karate JKA in Zahle, Lebanon, with Issam Azoury Sensei, 1972.

Later he went on to train with Sensei Sayda Elijah 1972.

Afterward, he continued with Charles Sayda and advanced from 1973 to June 1978. In 1975 he had the opportunity to train with JKA Sensei, Mikio Yahara.

Caracas-Venezuela: Arrived June 23, 1978. He coached and taught at Dojo El Cafetal which had as Technical Director Enrique Reyes Sensei, from 1979 until early 1984. He continued his training in JKA in Venezuela under Ishiyama Sensei, from 1984 until 1986. He trained twice with Master Hidetaka Nishiyama, 8th Dan.

Later he joined ISKF – JKA, led by Dr. Roberto Martinez, from 1986 to May 1994. During that time he trained with several of the JKA masters like Teruyuki Okazaki, Takayuki Mikami, Yutaka Yaguchi, Shohiro Koyama, Shigeru Takashino, Masahiko Tanaka, Keinosuke Enoeda, Yoshiharu Osaka, among others.

In November 1994, he invited and trained for the first time under the tutelage of Sensei Hitoshi Kasuya, 8th Dan WSKF, who filled all his expectations as a performer and instructor. Since November 1994, he was devoted to study and train contemporary WSKF Shotokan Karate-do.

He founded W.S.K.F. Venezuela in 1994 and is the current Chief Instructor.


Main Achievements:

National Champion more than 15 times. (1979-1996).

He has won five international championships (1982-1991).

4 times World Champion, 3 times World Champion U and once served as third.

Official member of Shihan Kai (Worldwide Technical Commission of WSKF).

He has given numerous seminars nationally since Karate (1985).

He was invited by the group Shotokan Karate Training Group of Argentina to give seminars in Buenos Aires, Argentina (2003). Award for Excellence by the Department of Federal Police of Argentina for the excellent seminar.

He taught in Canada-Calgary in February 2009 and 2010.

Taught seminars in his native Lebanon in 2009 and 2010.
